FEED Recognized for Farm to School Advocacy

Posted on February 17, 2016

Vermont FEED's Betsy Rosenbluth was recognized this week for demonstrating best practices in advocacy, for her testimony to the Vermont House Committee on Agriculture and Forest Prodcuts. In a blog post, Common Good Vermont noted that Betsy "reported that Vermont public school students consume 12 million meals each year - presenting important opportunities to educate, ensure full nutrition, support healthy brains and citizenship, and tie future consumers to VT products."

Betsy's testimony was part of a day of advocacy, action and celebration by the Vermont Farm to School Network and community. Leaders, practitioners, students, teachers and farmers all convened at the State House to share stories about the value of Farm to School; inform legislators about the critical issues facing children, schools and farms; and celebrate successful Farm to School programs and this year's Farm to School grantees.

Watch Betsy's testimony, along with Farm to School students and other leaders. You can also read more about the event and how you can help advocate for strong Vermont Farm to School programs.
