Opportunity for 2006-2010 Implementation Grantees. Vermont's Summer Farm to School Workshop Application July 27-30, 2010. Schools must apply by March 12, 2010.

January 14, 2010: Farm to School Awareness Day-- Join the Vermont Farm to School Network to honor the 2009 Farm to School Grantees and for the annoucement of the 2010 Farm to School Grantees. The Vermont Farm to School Network provides statewide leadership, coordination, and advocacy to advance new and existing Farm to School efforts in Vermont classrooms, cafeterias and communities.

January 20, 2010: Upper Valley Farm to Cafeteria Working Group--1:00 PM to 4:00 PM Woodstock Elementary School, Woodstock, VT. The afternoon will be focused on developing strategies to common barriers and
challenges that school lunch programs face in working to integrate local food into
their school lunch offerings. The "working group" session will include a combination of success stories shared
by cafeteria staff in the Upper Valley, and opportunities for all participants to work
on developing solutions in their kitchens. There will also be sample cafeteria
equipment and informational resources on hand. And, we will - as always –
jointly prepare and enjoy a delicious, local, light meal.

March, 27, 2010: 3rd Annual Jr. Iron Chef VT--Hone your kitchen knives, turn up the heat and think roots, because it is time to prepare for Jr Iron Chef VT 2010!

If you’re a Vermont student in grade 6-12, we’re challenging you to show Vermont that delicious, nutritious and fun school food comes from local Vermont farms. Sign your team up, and you’ll get a chance to show off your recipe and culinary prowess at the Champlain Valley Expo on Saturday March 27, 2010.

Barre Town's Family Health and Consumer Science classes organized a Harvest Soup Contest in 2007. Students researched and developed nutritionally balanced soups with seasonal, local foods.  Winning chefs were guests on the “New England Cooks” television program, with more than 3 million viewers.
