VERMONT FEED Technical Assistance
Technical Assistance
Vermont FEED’s technical assistance to schools helped launch 45 new Farm to School programs across Vermont in the past two years.
This past year, Vermont FEED technical assistance helped school communities to:
- Move successfully from vision to action for Farm to School programs
- Fully integrate food farm and nutrition into standards-based curricula
- Develop skills in food processing and preparation for school meals
- Create and test recipes and conduct taste testing demonstrations
- Identify infrastructural and cultural assets and needs
- Coordinate and conduct local farmer forums for food service staff
- Visit farms to orient food service and teachers to farms and farmers
- Learn how to conduct hands-on food, farm and nutrition activities
More than 100 school communities worked with Vermont FEED this past year to establish, refine, and expand Farm to School programs.
